3 Tips to Make Your Dorm Room More Cozy

As you’re settling into your new space, you might catch yourself thinking that…well, it’s not very cozy. Thankfully that’s not a hard problem to fix. Today we’re going over a few easy and inexpensive ways to bring that touch of home to your “new home.”

Add Soft Lighting

Fluorescent lighting can be harsh and uninviting, which is the last thing you need when you’re trying to relax or study. Swap out bright overhead lights for softer lighting options. String lights, desk lamps with warm bulbs, or even a small, stylish floor lamp can change the vibe of your room instantly.

Bring in Textiles

Nothing says cozy like soft, comfortable textiles. Invest in a quality comforter or duvet that feels like a hug when you dive in. Throw pillows can add color and personality, while a throw blanket can keep you warm during chilly study nights. Consider also adding a small rug beside your bed or under your chair to avoid stepping on a cold floor.

Personalize Your Space

Making your dorm room feel like “yours” is perhaps the most important part in turning it into a cozy sanctuary. Hang up wall art, photos of family and friends, or posters of your favorite bands or movies. These little personal touches will make your room feel more welcoming and uniquely yours.
