Morning workouts come with a long list of benefits, and if you still haven’t discovered how amazing they can be—now’s the time. Summer is the perfect season to give morning workouts a shot, and here are five reasons why they’re worth the hype.

Less Busy Schedule

Your schedule will free up in the summer since you’ll have no classes or exams to deal with, so it’s much easier to work out in the morning once this season arrives.

Early Start

It’s tempting to sleep in once the school year is over, but morning workouts will give you a reason to get up early and start your day on the right foot.

Lower Temperatures

In addition to being the best time to work out in the summer, mornings are very often the only time. Temperatures will rise during the day, and it will be pretty unbearable to work out, especially if you’re doing it outdoors.

Free Evenings

Working out in the mornings will free up your evenings, making it easier to catch up with friends, do a part-time job, run errands, or enjoy your hobbies.

Developing Good Habits

They say it only takes 21 days to develop a good habit, and if you fall in love with morning workouts this summer, chances are you’ll be doing them all year long.

The quest for the perfect study schedule is a familiar one for students. We all dream of a magical plan that unlocks peak learning potential and guarantees academic success. But is there truly a one-size-fits-all approach? The answer: not quite. While a single “optimal” schedule might be a myth, creating a personalized plan that maximizes your learning style and preferences is key. Here’s why.

Learning Styles Vary

Some students thrive on structure and routine, needing a set daily schedule to stay focused. Others function best with more flexibility, preferring to study in bursts throughout the day.  Understanding your own learning style is the first step to crafting an effective plan.

Energy Levels Fluctuate

An “optimal” schedule should consider your natural energy levels. Are you a morning person who tackles complex subjects before lunch? Or do you hit your stride later in the evening? Scheduling demanding tasks for your prime focus times can significantly enhance learning.

Life Has Its Demands

Lastly, don’t forget the realities of your daily life.  A study schedule crammed between work, extracurriculars, and social commitments is a recipe for stress and inefficiency. Be realistic about your obligations and factor in breaks and downtime for optimal learning and well-being.

Studying is an integral part of being a student. Turing up to your lectures and seminars is only a small part of your course, and outside of these contact hours you are required to spend time studying for your subject. People have different ways they like to go about this, but choosing to study in the library is something you should consider. Here’s why.

A Quiet and Calm Space

Studying requires a lot of brain power to focus. While you may feel able to work with lots of background noise and in a busy place, you will likely find that heading to the peaceful, silent space of the library is much better for fostering a good state of mind for working.

Surrounded by Other Students

Finding and keeping the motivation to focus on your studies can be a challenge. This is even more true if you’re at home with lots of distractions. Even heading to a cafe may not be the best choice, as the people around you may be having leisurely lunches which can make it hard to stay on track. In the library, you will be surrounded by other students in the same situation as yourself, which makes it a lot easier to remain focused on your work.

Can Keep Home and Studying Separate

Studying at home might feel cozy and comfortable, but it can create negative associations with your home space, make it much harder to relax afterward, and can impact your sleep quality. Being in a specific study space is much better, and at the end of your study session, you can pack up, go home, and switch off.

So, you’ve picked a major—congrats! That’s a big step. But here’s a little piece of advice: don’t put those course catalog blinders on just yet. Venturing outside of your major can shape your college experience in ways you haven’t imagined. Let’s take a look at how.

A Well-Rounded Education

Taking classes outside your major contributes to a well-rounded education. This holistic approach to learning encourages critical thinking and problem-solving skills that are applicable in real-world scenarios. By understanding different disciplines, you’re better prepared to tackle complex issues that require interdisciplinary solutions.

Discovering New Interests

College is a time of exploration and self-discovery. Enrolling in courses outside your major is a great way to pursue interests you might not have known you had. This exploration can lead to discovering new passions that may even influence your career path or become lifelong hobbies.

Building a Diverse Network

Taking a variety of courses will give you the opportunity to interact with students and professors from different departments. This networking opportunity can be invaluable. You never know, these connections may even prove beneficial in the future, whether you’re seeking interdisciplinary collaboration, professional opportunities, or simply a broader social circle.

Glen Powell is shaping up to be one of the biggest Hollywood stars of his generation, with many notable credits under his belt. His career has really taken off thanks to the recent roles in Top Gun: Maverick and Anyone But You, but did you know he’s still pursuing his college degree?

Powell graduated from Westwood High School in Austin, Texas in 2007, before deciding to pursue a career in Hollywood. Acting was just a fun hobby back in the day, and he was actually a skilled athlete, playing football and lacrosse during his teenage years.

Powell decided to continue his academic journey at the Moody College of Communication at the University of Texas at Austin, but his plans changed once his acting career took off. He left college before finishing his degree, but he recently told The Hollywood Reporter that he’s planning to move back to Texas to be closer to his family and complete the requirements for his degree.

Despite not graduating from Moody College just yet, he was invited to deliver the commencement speech last year. The Moody College Dean Jay Bernhardt said he was chosen as keynote speaker because “his hard work, persistence, and devotion to craft will inspire [their] graduates as they start their next chapters.”

These days, smartphones and social media have become a regular part of everyday life. Still, just because they are popular does not mean that they are necessarily good for you. Here are the pros and cons of social media and how much you should be using it in college.

The Upside

From photos to videos and messages, social media enables you to remain connected to your family and friends back home. Your college may also have social media pages that announce interesting events across campus, keeping you in the know. Ultimately, it’s an effective portal of communication.

The Downside

Firstly, because it can be so fun, social media can become distracting, getting in the way of your studies. Of course, online bullying remains a major issue, meaning you need to be careful online. Also important to remember is that whatever you post will remain on the internet, so remember to think things through before posting.

The Verdict

Ultimately, social media can be a force for good when used in the correct way. Still, it can be used in excess, distracting you from your studies in the process. Make sure to monitor your usage and exact discipline when doing so. For example, consider only using social media at specific times of the day and for a limited time, sticking to this schedule.

Graduating college is a huge achievement, but let’s talk about what comes after. You might be feeling a mix of excitement and anxiety, wondering what the future holds and how you’ll handle the pressure. It’s normal to feel a bit lost during this transition. Let’s walk through some practical tips that can help you manage the stress of post-college life.

Set Realistic Goals

One common source of stress after college is the pressure to succeed immediately in your career or personal life. While ambition is important, setting overly ambiguous or vague goals can lead to frustration and self-doubt. Start by setting small, achievable goals that will build toward your larger aspirations.

Develop a Support System

Transitioning from college to the real world can feel isolating, especially as you and your peers might move to different cities or start different paths. It’s important to maintain old friendships and form new ones. Reach out to family and friends regularly and consider joining professional groups or community clubs where you can meet new people.

Maintain a Healthy Work-Life Balance

After college, the newfound responsibility of full-time employment or searching for a job can lead to burnout if not managed carefully. This is why it is so important to create a routine that allocates time for work and relaxation.

One of the best things about studying abroad is that you’ll get to immerse yourself in a new culture—and you can even do it through food! You’ll be surrounded by local street food at every turn, and here are a few compelling reasons why you should try it and never look back.

Cultural Immersion

Trying street food is the best way to taste the true essence of the local cuisine and get the authentic taste of your host country. You’ll have a wide range of diverse options to choose from, inviting you to immerse yourself in a new culture and explore the many different flavors that make it unique.

Saving Money

Your budget will be pretty limited during your studies abroad, but that shouldn’t stop you from discovering the culinary scene of your host country. Street food happens to be much cheaper than all the alternatives, allowing you to explore local cuisine without breaking the bank.

Expanding Your Palate

If you’re in the mood to expand your palate and experiment with fun, new flavors, street food will get you there. In addition to broadening your culinary horizons, street food will open up a window to a whole new world of culinary delights, inspiring you to step out of your comfort zone and discover new dishes you might want to make on your own.
