College dorms are pretty small and cramped, and no matter how big your room is, you’ll probably struggle to store all your things inside your room. If you’re looking for a way to utilize the storage space in your dorm to the fullest, here are five practical hacks that will make your dorm feel bigger and more comfortable.

Under-Bed Storage

If your bed is high enough to store things under it, you should use it to your advantage. Look for storage containers big enough to fit underneath, and use them to store your seasonal clothes, shoes, and other bulky items.

Vertical Storage

Vertical storage solutions will do wonders for your dorm room. Tall, narrow shelving units can be used for anything from your textbooks to kitchen supplies, and they don’t take up too much space.

Utilize Hooks

Hooks can also help you utilize spaces that didn’t even cross your mind, such as your doors, closet doors, and empty spaces on your walls that you can use to hang your handbags and other lightweight items.

Closet Space

You should also make sure you’re using every inch of closet space to your advantage. Use slim hangers, group your clothes strategically, and use stackable drawers to maximize your closet space.

Avoid Clutter

Avoiding unnecessary clutter is a must when your storage space is limited. Make sure to go through your clothes and other belongings from time to time and get rid of the ones you’re not using.

Going off to college means making many new friends while leaving the old ones behind. That doesn’t mean your old friendships will end, as long as you put an effort into preserving them. Here are five useful tips that can help you maintain your long-distance friendships after you go your separate ways after high school.

Check-In Virtually

Social media made it pretty easy to stay in touch with friends and family who don’t live close by, and you can always catch up by texting or doing regular video calls.

Celebrate Milestones

You won’t be able to always be there for your old friends after moving away, but make sure you still celebrate important milestones together and that they can rely on you when things get tough.

Shared Activities

Having some shared activities, such as reading the same book or playing video games online, is a great way to bond even after moving across the country for college.

Give Them Space

Both you and your friends will have a lot going on after high school is over, so try to be understanding and give them some space. Even if you’re talking less frequently, your friendship can survive if it’s strong enough.

Make Travel Plans

Making travel plans with your long-distance friends is a great way to stay in touch. Try to catch up in person during holiday breaks, or plan some fun trips together between semesters.

Writing a resume is all fun and games when you have years of work experience behind you, but what if you’re just a student starting out? With no work experience to fall back on, you’ll still have to find a way to fill your resume, and our five useful tips will help you take the first step toward landing your dream job or internship.

Highlight Your Education

Highlighting your education is a good place to start when you have no work experience. Instead of simply listing the schools you attended in the past, try to emphasize coursework, projects, and certifications that might be relevant to the role you’re applying to.

Volunteer Work

Volunteering is a great way to gain some hands-on experience, and you should definitely include it in your first resume because it demonstrates your willingness to work with a team and help those less fortunate.

Part-Time Jobs

No matter how trivial your past part-time jobs may sound, they can demonstrate commitment to working hard and showcase a wide range of different abilities, from customer service to tutoring.

Extracurricular Activities

Listing extracurricular activities and hobbies in your resume is a great way to let your personality shine, and show recruiters you’re open to exploring different interests and learning new skills.

List Your Skills

Speaking of skills, make sure to set aside a section in your resume for listing your hard and soft skills. Hard skills refer to your technical expertise, while soft skills are character traits that can help you excel in your new role, such as communication skills, problem-solving, and time management.

Nosferatu is one of the buzziest new films to hit theaters this winter, and its star-studded cast is one of the best things about it. If you’re wondering where they went to school before finding fame in Hollywood, we’re here with all the details about their academic journey.

Bill Skarsgård

Bill Skarsgård was only nine when he started booking his first acting roles. He took science as a major in high school and considered becoming a doctor like his mother, but eventually decided to stick to acting.

Lily-Rose Depp

Just like Skarsgård, Lily-Rose Depp comes from a family of actors. She was 16 when she decided to drop out of her college-prep high school in Hollywood and focus on acting full-time.

“I think that the American school system puts a lot of pressure on kids, so if you don’t go to college, then you won’t be successful… Everybody has their own path. And, for some people, it’s college. What’s been important to me, always, but especially since I’ve left school, is to never stop learning,” she told The Face.

Nicholas Hoult

Nicholas Hoult got his big break with the role in About a Boy while he was still a teen. He initially considered attaining advanced-level certificates in English, Biology, and Psychology but eventually decided to pursue his passion for acting at Sylvia Young Theatre School.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson

Aaron Taylor-Johnson attended the Holmer Green Senior School and the Jackie Palmer Stage School in High Wycombe but dropped out at 15 to pursue acting full-time.

Emma Corrin

Emma Corrin fell in love with acting and singing during her time at the all-girl boarding school Roman Catholic Woldingham School in Surrey. She briefly studied drama at the University of Bristol, before heading to St John’s College, Cambridge to study Education, English, and Drama.

New Year’s Eve is just around the corner, and if you still haven’t started planning your outfit—the clock is ticking. Whether you’re going to one of the campus parties or planning a low-key get-together with friends, we’re here to help you plan a chic and cozy outfit that fits into your student budget.

Use What You Have

There’s no need to buy any new clothes if you already have an outfit that you could wear. Even though the idea of having a new outfit for every occasion is constantly pushed by social media, it’s totally ok to repeat outfits, especially if you already have cute clothes that fit the occasion perfectly.

Sales & Discounts

If you feel like treating yourself just in time for New Year’s Eve, buying new clothes is always an option, but you should know where to look. If your budget is extremely limited, explore stores with affordable prices, and always go through the sale rack because you might be struck gold when you least expect it.

Explore Thrift Stores

Thrift stores are a godsend in times like this, and you should definitely visit a few when looking for your New Year’s Eve outfit. They offer unique clothes you can’t find anywhere else for a portion of the price, and party clothes you find there will usually be gently used because people don’t have a habit of constantly re-wearing them.

Celebrities often share information about their eating habits in their interview, and Cecilia Fondacci didn’t want to let this info go to waste. She gathered it all in one place and started filming viral clips where she eats like a celebrity for a day.

Fondacci calls herself “a girl who loves to cook and travel” in the bio on her Instagram page, which attracted 70,000 followers in less than two years. She’s the mastermind behind the viral “eating like a celebrity challenge”, and many of her videos have been viewed by millions of people, often sparking a heated debate in the comments.

Fondacci’s videos pay homage to a wide range of celebrities from different walks of life, including models, actresses, and singers, ranging from Zendaya and Kendall Jenner to Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez. She also enjoys making videos inspired by her favorite fictional characters, but celebrity videos remain the cornerstone of her Instagram page.

Fondacci’s videos are followed by a disclaimer explaining they’re based on the information found online, and she always tries to make them work for her body. She encourages other people to do the same and only try making the foods that suit their taste. Despite being based on celebrities’ favorite recipes, Fondacci’s videos feature quick and easy dishes that you can recreate even if you’re a beginner.

Cailee Spaeny

Cailee Spaeny never felt at home during her time in school, but she found her footing at the Springfield Little Theatre. She used to take dance classes, vocal lessons, and acting classes six days a week before officially kicking off her Hollywood career during the late 2010s.

David Jonsson

Industry star David Jonsson used to get in trouble in school, but he found his path once he decided to become an actor. He won a scholarship to study at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and started pursuing acting full-time following graduation in 2016.

Archie Renaux

Shadow and Bone star Archie Renaux attended Richard Challoner School and later studied acting at The Unseen Drama School in London. He didn’t see acting as a viable career option, so he spent some time working as an air conditioning engineer but eventually decided to pursue his true passion.

Isabela Merced

Isabela Merced has been acting from a young age, and she skipped several grades in her youth. She was accepted into college at 15 and attended the Fairmount Performing Arts Conservatory before moving to New York to pursue acting full-time.
