Best Companies to Work for in 2018

Every year, careers site Glassdoor releases a list of the best places to work. Now in its tenth edition, the list includes companies with more than 1,000 employees, and it’s based on employee reviews submitted since November 2016. To qualify, a company needed to receive at least 75 reviews in that period. Organizations were ranked based on employee surveys across several factors, such as overall satisfaction, career opportunities, compensation, work-life balance and business outlook.

Facebook takes the top spot, moving up one slot from last year. Despite controversies over the spread of false information and studies claiming negative psychological effects, the tech company’s revenue continues to soar. Morale is high among its roughly 17,000 employees, who have cited workplace perk.

Strategy consulting firm Bain comes in second, slipping one spot from last year. It beats out the two other top consulting firms that hire many MBAs every year, BCG (#3) and McKinsey (#1 & 2s) and smart colleagues as benefits of working there.

Google (#5) and Apple (#84) are the only other companies in this club. Bain employees have said they like the company for its focus on professional development and positive culture. “Great people to work with, motivated, down-to-earth, pragmatic, helping; clear perspective on promotion cycles and professional development,” wrote one reviewer. “Everyone focuses on real-time coaching and truly wants to see everyone succeed and get better,” another commented.
