After rising to prominence on TikTok, Addison Rae is slowly making a name for herself in the music industry with songs “Diet Pepsi” and “Aquamarine”. She became a household name at a pretty young age, but did she ever get a chance to go to college?
Dance has always been a huge part of Rae’s life, and she was just six when she started dancing competitively, traveling to competitions across the country. TikTok opened the door for her to share her talent with the world and helped her become a viral sensation, but she briefly attended college before finding success on this social media platform.
Rae studied sports broadcasting at the Louisiana State University, but dropped out after gaining popularity on TikTok. The 24-year-old media personality and singer claims it’s a common misconception that she left college for TikTok, explaining she did it to pursue her dreams.
“It was really to focus on pursuing my career in the entertainment industry and moving out [to Los Angeles] to, obviously, get more connections and get more involved in everything that I was doing already… If I decide to go back, I’m sure it will be great, but as of now, I just want to focus on the opportunities I’m being presented now,” she told J-14 Magazine.
Rae added she’ll stick to a similar major if she ever decides to go back to college and keep pursuing journalism because it’s a part of the entertainment industry.
