House of the Dragon is one of the most popular epic fantasy dramas ruling our TV screen, and it wouldn’t be the same without its amazing cast. If you’re wondering where they went to school before becoming professional actors, we’re here with all the details about their academic journey.
Emma D’Arcy
Emma D’Arcy (who uses they/them pronouns) attended the Ruskin School of Art at the University of Oxford. They studied fine art, but fell in love with theatre during these years, and quickly made a transition from set design to acting and directing.
Matt Smith
Matt Smith spent most of his younger years trying to escape acting so he could focus on his soccer career. His plans to become a professional player fell through after he suffered a serious back injury, so he went on to study drama and creative writing at the University of East Anglia.
Olivia Cooke
Olivia Cooke never went to acting school, but she did apply to the iconic Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Not getting accepted after making it to the final round of auditions wasn’t a huge blow because she was already getting a lot of acting work.
Fabien Frankel
Fabien Frankel also has ties to RADA—he took a year-long foundation course at this acting school, but eventually got his professional acting degree from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
