How to Create an Effective and Realistic Weekly Schedule

Being a student is an amazing experience but comes with many challenges. As well as the joy of living an independent adult life for the first time, there are also plans with friends to factor in, let alone time for studying and possibly part-time employment. It’s understandable if this feels like an impossible mission at times, but it is feasible to fit everything in with clever planning. Here’s how to create a schedule for your week that is realistic while also being effective.

Start Each Week With a Priorities List

This is the first step to ensuring your week runs as smoothly as possible. Each week this will undoubtedly change, so it’s essential to create a list every time. You can assign each task with a priority level in order to ensure the most crucial ones are met first, and the rest can be fitted in afterward.

Time How Long Tasks Take You

A common error when people try to plan their time is not really knowing how long each thing will take them. Try to keep track of this for a few weeks so that you have a much more accurate idea and can design your schedule around this. In the future, if you come across totally new tasks, then try to estimate based on similar tasks you’ve done previously, and always leave more time than you think you’ll need.
