Why You Should Try This 5-Minute Eye Stretch Routine

In our digital age, our eyes work overtime. Staring at screens for hours on end can lead to eye strain, tiredness, and even headaches. But just like the rest of your body, your eyes benefit from regular exercise. Here are some tips.

The Benefits of Eye Stretching

Eye stretches help relax your eye muscles, reducing discomfort and promoting better overall eye health. Eye strain can also make it harder to concentrate. Stretching exercises increase blood flow to the eyes, enhancing focus and improving your concentration.

Eye Stretch Routine

  1. Blinking Bonanza: This may seem simple, but we often forget to blink enough when focusing on screens. Consciously blink rapidly for 30 seconds to rehydrate your eyes.
  2. Near and Far Focus: Hold your thumb out at arm’s length and focus on it for 10 seconds.  Then, shift your focus to a distant object across the room for another 10 seconds. Repeat 5 times.
  3. Rolling Circles: Close your eyes gently and roll your eyeballs in a clockwise direction for 15 seconds.  Then, repeat by rolling them counter-clockwise for another 15 seconds.
  4. Palming: Lastly, gently rub your palms together to create warmth. Then, cup your palms over your closed eyes,  applying light pressure without pressing on your eyeballs. Relax and breathe deeply for 1 minute.
