The Science Behind Melatonin That Will Help You Sleep

Getting enough sleep is one of the most important things you can do for your body.  Sleep regulates so many vital functions of your body and has untold benefits when it comes to your mood and health. SOmetimes though, life gets super busy and it doesn’t always seem like you can or should have the time to sleep. Because of this constant routine of sacrificing sleep for other activities, social events, school work, or business related work, sometimes your body just becomes accustomed to not getting enough sleep. This can then result in your body’s inability to properly and easily fall asleep when you actually get a chance to relax and lay down.

For these instances, where your body refuses to accept some much needed sleep, it could be beneficial to invest in some melatonin tablets. You can purchase these at your local pharmacy or grocery store. Melatonin is a hormone produced by the pineal gland which is in the brain.  Melatonin basically regulates your sleep cycle. Something interesting to note is that your body regulates this hormone based on your cycle, but also is affected by how light or dark it is. For example, in the winter when it starts getting dark earlier, your body begins to produce more melatonin earlier. Some scientists believe that this regulation due to light is also affected by TV and computer screens. Scientists say that looking at a screen before you go to sleep can cause you to not be tired and to have trouble falling asleep.  So, for instances where you seem to have trouble falling asleep, try taking some natural melatonin tablets.
