This Simple Broth is a Warming Treat to Get You Through Your Day

When you’re studying hard, you may find yourself getting hungry more often than usual. Our brains need fuel just as our bodies do, and high protein snacks are a great option when it comes to staying sated and focused. Check out this recipe for a simple savory broth which is high in protein and low in fat, for a healthy snack at any time of the day.

Ingredients (to serve 1):

  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 sachet of white miso paste
  • 1 tablespoon of tahini
  • 2 scallions, finely sliced
  • 1/2 tablespoon of oil
  • 1 tablespoon of grated ginger
  • 1/2 red chilli, finely sliced
  • 1/4 teaspoon of smoked paprika
  • 1/3 cup of peas, fresh or frozen


  1. In a pan, heat the oil.
  2. Once the oil is hot, add the ginger, chilli and scallions. Fry for 4 – 5 minutes.
  3. Add the smoked paprika, stir through well.
  4. Add the water and the miso paste, stir through well.
  5. Add the peas, cook for 4 – 5 minutes until cooked through.
  6. Serve immediately – for an added protein boost, serve with a boiled egg.
