]]>Cooking your own meals is a great way to save money in the long run. You’ll have to buy some kitchen appliances, such as a mini-fridge and a microwave, if they’re not available in your room, but it will pay off after some time.
You can save a fortune by buying food at local stores and markets. Discount grocery stores and bulk food stores are also worth exploring because they’re much cheaper than regular supermarkets.
You’ll lose a lot of money through the food you waste, but this is easily avoided. Never buy more food than you really need, especially when it comes to fresh produce that spoils easily. Make sure to store your leftovers properly and remember to eat them before they go bad.
Ordering food can cost you a fortune, especially if it becomes a force of habit. If you don’t feel like cooking, treat yourself to a nice meal at a restaurant instead of ordering in because you’ll pay the same price either way.

Electric blankets have become a huge hit in recent years, and buying one can help you make it through the winter. Heating wires placed inside the fabric will help you stay warm and cozy when temperatures hit a new low.
Even if you don’t have an electric blanket, any warm blanket will do, and you should even consider using several layers. It’s also a good idea to switch up your bedding, opting for flannel sheets for extra warmth.
The way you dress in your dorm makes all the difference. Wear your warmest clothes when it’s super-cold outside, even several layers if necessary.
You should also consider blocking the cold air from coming in if your dorm is constantly cold. Check your windows and try to seal them if you notice there are cracks letting the cold air in.
